Titan Successfully Represents Real Property Data Services Provider Ubee in Competitor Lawsuit

In a judgment issued on February 14, 2019, Taiwan’s Intellectual Property Court ruled that our client Ubee’s (https://www.ubee.io/) business did not infringe the plaintiffs’ trademarks or copyrights, nor does Ubee engage in unfair trade practices. The lawsuit was brought by several of Taiwan’s major real estate brokers who sought a court order to suspend Ubee’s business.

Ubee provides real property price comparison service, but brokerage services. Ubee integrates public information, and provides a matching-service platform for real estate brokers and consumers seeking to buy or rent property.

The Intellectual Property Court accepted our arguments that Ubee is a technology platform that promotes pricing transparency and competitiveness in the property market. Plaintiffs have announced their intention to exercise their right of appeal.

Ubee was represented by Titan’s managing partner Dr. Ching-Yuan Yeh, assisted by our senior associate Ms. Ya-Ling Cheng, and Mr. Cheng-Yu Tan. Dr. Ching-Yuan Yeh served at Lee and Li Attorneys-at-Law and Sullivan & Cromwell LLP, with an experience in U.S. and Taiwan for around 20 years. Ms. Cheng worked as a legal manager in financial industry and traditional industries. She has more than 10 years of experience in lawsuit and legal affairs.
